A farmer-owned dairy cooperative whose Swedish roots trace to the 'Arla' name adopted by a Swedish milk-sellers' cooperative in 1881; today it trades as Arla Foods, formed by the 2000 merger of Swedish Arla and Danish MD Foods, and remains owned by dairy farmers across several European countries. It supplies milk, cream, cheese, butter and yoghurt in both consumer packs and catering-size 10–20 litre formats for cafés, restaurants and commercial kitchens.
