Is this table setting plan free?
Yes, completely free, with no account and nothing to install. Fill it in and print straight from your browser.
Why outside-in?
Because the guest picks up the outermost piece for each course. Lay the cutlery in the order the courses arrive — first course furthest out — and the guest works towards the plate by themselves, with nobody having to explain anything.
Why a maximum of three pieces a side?
Past three the guest cannot reach comfortably and the table reads as a cutlery shop. Every house re-lays between courses instead. The tool will not draw a cover that does not work in practice — it tells you when to re-lay.
Where do the glasses go?
Above the knives, with the glass poured first nearest the guest's right hand. The water glass stands at the back above the main knife. Tick the glasses you use in the options.
