Daily Specials Board Maker
Inventing a dish every night around whatever is about to go to waste, at a price nobody checks. This tool pulls suggestions from your stock, works out a price that protects your food cost, and prints the board.
How it works
- 1
Add a special
Pick a suggestion pulled from your stock — the tool shows what you have too much of — or type in your own dish. Every special gets a name, a short description and a cost per portion.
- 2
Let the price work itself out
Set your target food cost at the top (e.g. 30%). Each dish gets a suggested price straight away that protects that margin — you decide whether to keep it.
- 3
Print the board, or share it
Print a board for the door, or copy the text for WhatsApp or your Instagram story. Sold out? One click marks a dish 'sold out' — it drops off the moment you share again.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the suggestions come from?
If you use HappyChef's free stock-control tool, this tool reads which items are flagged 'overstocked' there — the exact same test the stock tool uses itself. Click a suggestion and it lands on your board straight away, with a short reason (how much you have too much of).
What if I don't track stock?
Just add your specials by hand with the 'Add a special' button. The pricing works exactly the same: type a cost per portion and the tool suggests a price based on your target food cost.
How is the suggested price calculated?
Cost divided by your target food-cost percentage, rounded up to a round price. At a 30% target and a €4.50 cost, that comes to €15 — the same division the menu-price calculator uses. It's a starting point: you always adjust the price yourself.
Is my data saved anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your own browser (localStorage) and is never uploaded. The board is only ever read by your other tools on your own device, never sent anywhere.
