Is this tool free?
Yes, completely free and with no account. Your link is never stored or sent anywhere: the QR code is built inside your own browser.
How big does a QR code on a table need to be?
The rule of thumb is ten to one: a code reads from about ten times its own width. On a table you scan from roughly 40 cm, so 40 mm is enough. In a window you look from a metre away and already need about 100 mm — bigger than a card, and exactly why most window stickers do not work.
What is error correction, and why does the tool pick it?
A QR code can rebuild itself when part of it is damaged — up to about 30% at the highest level. That costs extra squares, and more squares at the same printed width means smaller squares. So the tool picks the highest level whose squares still print big enough, and tells you which level that turned out to be.
My link is too long. What now?
Shorten it. A long link full of tracking parameters makes the code denser and therefore harder to read from a distance. A short, clean link scans faster and survives a coffee ring better.
Can I use my own table names?
Yes. Under “more options” you type your own names, one per line — “Terrace 1”, “Bar”, “Snug” — and they replace the numbering. The tool warns you when two cards carry the same name.
Does this work with any menu?
Yes. The code simply opens the link you paste: a PDF menu, your own website, an ordering page or your booking page. The tool makes the card, not the menu.
