Carnation Tea

On soft rose paper with painted flower sprays in the corners, a watercolour bouquet sits above the hotel's name, a script line inviting guests to afternoon tea for Mum and the Sunday serving hours. The courses follow in a calm centred column, divided by small floral garlands: a rhubarb fizz to begin, smoked salmon and honey-roast ham sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and a lemon and elderflower cake.
