# The name on the booking is the first name of the guest who made it (or gave it to the restaurant), not of everyone at the table. Gender is read from that first name with a public first-name dictionary plus a list of common Flemish and French-Belgian names; names used for both men and women (Kim, Dominique, Chris, Sam, …), nicknames, family names and empty or encrypted names are left out. Share of bookings the guest made online (booking page, widget or Reserve with Google), against bookings the restaurant entered itself (mostly by phone), for bookings made from 1 October 2025 on. Each figure is computed per restaurant for women and for men separately, then averaged with equal weight per restaurant, so the comparison is always made inside the same restaurants. Only restaurants with at least 30 bookings by women and 30 by men count.
